Ami started her music career as a teenager playing in garage bands - and with a DIY ethos and experience as a musician in her own right, paved her own road in the music industry. As a booking agent and on-road tour manager in the live music and touring realm, Ami has ticked off everything from small local shows, small national festivals and an extensive list of international and domestic tours which span Central Europe, The United Kingdom, The United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. While working for New Zealand distributor Rhythmethod for several years, Ami focused on working with local artists through the motions of album release lead-in - from artwork and physical production details, press kits, advertising ideas, release sheets and sales into local retail. Ami has a thorough understanding of sales and royalties from running sales accounts behind the screen, as a musician receiving them herself, and as a band manager chasing them up! Now as a freelancer in the industry, Ami fills many roles - from artist liaisons for festivals, driving tour parties, merchandising shows, and booking offshore tours and tour managing. All-rounder roles that have stemmed from a DIY attitude and allow perspective and understanding from multiple angles are what Ami feels are the key to her success and ability to relate and successfully work with artists.
Amy began her event management career whilst still a student at college, managing local bands and working for Zeal, an organisation committed to fostering creativity in NZ youth. Some of her career highlights include working behind the scenes at WOMAD, Rhythm and Vines, TSB Bank Festival of Lights, Playground Weekender (Australia) and FIFA U-20 World Cup 2015. She holds a degree in Event Management from AUT, and brings her nine years of industry experience to her current position at Auckland Council as an Event Organiser. Currently her focus is on working towards sustainable ‘zero waste’ events.
Like all semi-jaded musicians, Anthony made his start in promoting as a touring musician, booking shows and tours for his band Glass Owls. A motor-mouth, Blockbuster membership & some semblance of conviction landed him a part-time gig running Cassette 9’s infamous bandnight: MUM CLUB, which he went on to helm for over three years. During his tenure, he hosted acts as diverse as BADBADNOTGOOD, Nosaj Thing, Harts, OPOSSOM & some of the best and brightest from Auckland’s burgeoning local scene. From there, Anthony set up 100% GOOD, a blog & touring company, and has run tours for Mac DeMarco, Parquet Courts, Kings Tuff, Young Fathers and Mini Mansions.
Anthony has three plans for the future. These include:
1. Mini-golf tour of NZ
2. Maybe start a venue?
3. Pay someone to write the next bio
